in the Development of Passive Protection

The need for protection against drones has become a global priority for the energy, industrial and infrastructure sectors. Over the past decade, operators around the world have gained significant experience in implementing various passive protection solutions adapted to different types of facilities and threat levels.

International experience demonstrates the consistent development of passive protection solutions for facilities against drones —

from rapidly deployable temporary measures to full-scale engineering systems that ensure a high level of safety and long-term reliability.

1

Stage 1. 2022-2023

At the initial stage, rapidly deployable solutions were used in different countries, including guyed structures and systems partially relying on the protected facility itself. Practical experience showed that such approaches had significant limitations:

Insufficient distance between the protective

structure and the asset itself;

  1. Insufficient distance between the protective structure and the asset itself;

Inadequate frame reliability when impacted by fixed-wing drones;

  1. Inadequate frame reliability when impacted by fixed-wing drones;

High risk of blast-wave effects directly affecting the protected asset.

Improved Solutions

Stage 2. 2023-2024

The next stage was the transition to more reliable solutions with a self-supporting load-bearing frame. This was a significant step forward. However, in some cases important limitations remained:

Insufficient distance between the protective structure and the asset;

  1. Insufficient distance between the protective structure and the asset;

Limited structural resistance under impact from larger drones;

  1. Limited structural resistance under impact from larger drones;

Need for further strengthening of the main frame and protective barrier.

3

Full-Scale Engineering Solutions

Stage 3. 2025-Present

Further practical experience confirmed that simplified or temporary solutions do not provide the required level of protection for critical facilities. As a result, leading international companies in the energy and industrial sectors concluded that real protection can only be ensured by full-scale, reliable and practically validated engineering solutions:

Self-supporting and reliable frame;
